UP Symposium on Gender Politics in Our Time

The UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies cordially invites you to participate in the inaugural “UP Symposium on Gender Politics in Our Time” to be held at the National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (NISMED) Auditorium, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City on 07-08 December 2017.

This initial symposium ushers in the 30th anniversary of the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies in 2018 and aims to provide a venue to examine, discuss, debate, and reflect on the gender issues of our time. It will focus on the contributions of contemporary scholarship in gender and women’s studies to our understanding of gender politics and its critical intersections with power in all levels and aspects of our lived realities.

The keynote address of this inaugural symposium will be delivered by Neferti X. M. Tadiar (UPD, AB’85), Professor of Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies, Barnard College, USA. Panel presentations will cover themes such as Gender Politics in the Academy; Gender Mainstreaming and University Extension Programs; Gender Research; Interrogating GAD Methods and Mechanisms; Exploring Gender and Populism(s) in Contemporary Time, and; Gender Politics, Language, and the #hashtag.
