UP Center for Women’s Studies (UP CWS), under Prof. Judy Taguiwalo’s leadership, sponsored Interrogating SOGIE, Identity Politics and Political Economy: Roundtable Discussion on LGBT and Imperialism. Eleven LGBT rights activists  submitted their papers: Prof. Roselle Pineda (UP Diliman), Ivanka Custudio, Prof. Sarah Raymundo (UP Diliman), Oscar Atadero, Prof. Jomar Cuartero (Ateneo de Manila University), Ima Ariate, Bugsy Nolasco, Prof. Det Neri (UP Diliman), Brenda Viernes, Prof. Jhoanna Cruz (UP Mindanao) and Irma Bajar. These papers were presented (do not include Prof. Cruz as she is currently based in Davao City and Irma Bajar is based in US) last Dec 3, 2014 at Balay Kalinaw, UP Diliman.

Objective in organizing the RTD is “to provide a space for exploratory and critical discussions on inextricably linked systems of oppression in order to foster solidarity among national liberation movements and the LGBT movement, recognizing that the success of solidarity depends on the recognition of differences and at the same time, tirelessly unearthing and forging connections.”
