Review of Women’s Studies: Call for Artworks

The Review of Women’s Studies seeks submissions for cover art.

The Review of Women’s Studies is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies, University of the Philippines. It publishes creative works and empirical research on issues and concerns affecting the lives of Filipino women and gender relations as seen from the analytical perspectives of different disciplines. The journal encourages and seeks to publish research that employ feminist methodologies and that adhere to the principles of feminist research, bearing in mind the intersectionality of gender, class, religion, age, and education. Requirements:

  1. All images must be submitted in .tiff, .png, or .jpeg format.
  2. A separate text document file containing a list of the images’ file names and the following details:
    a. Title
    b. Medium
    c. Size
    d. Year
  3. A cover sheet containing the artist’s full name, two to three lines of biographical data that include the artist’s present position and area of work, postal address, email address, and telephone number.
  4. Artist’s statement.

Email submissions to [email protected] with “RWS Artwork Submission” in the email subject heading.

The artist selected to display their work on the cover of the Review of Women’s Studies will receive a nominal honorarium of P5,000.00.

Deadline for submissions is 16 August 2024.

UPCWGS director attends 1st APWiL In-Person Summit 2024

The University of the Philippines Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (UPCWGS) director, Dr. Marie Aubrey J. Villaceran, participated in the 1st Asia Pacific Women in Leadership (APWiL) In-Person Summit 2024 on June 22-23 at the University of Auckland, New Zealand as a core group member. She was joined by APWiL mentees from UP Diliman, Asst. Prof. Maritess D. Cruz of the Department of Women and Development Studies, College of Social Work and Community Development and Asst. Prof. Irish Joy G. Deocampo of the Department of English and Comparative Literature, College of Arts and Letters.

The APWiL In-Person Summit 2024 brought together, for the first time, participants and alumni of the APWiL Mentoring Program to discuss gender equity in the Pacific Rim region: the current state of gender equity in academia, strategies and practices to improve gender equity, and the experiences of APWiL Mentoring Program participants.
